Synopsis:  Sun City Picture House is the story of Raphael Louigene, a young Haitian man who loves movies. Raphael works at St. Damien’s children’s hospital in Port Au Prince and every Thursday he buries the dead at the city morgue with Father Rick Frechette, a Catholic priest. In contrast to this horrific task Raphael and Father Rick have a hope and vision for Haiti’s future. The film follows their journey as they look for the light and love from within the darkness.

Along the way Raphael recruits his two aid worker friends, Bryn and David, to help him achieve his dream of building the first movie theater since the devastating earthquake of January 2010. The team sets to work building the theater in a tent city filled with thousands of displaced Haitians. With the help of the community they rally together and work through a tropical storm and into the night to try and build the theater in four days.

Raphael's friend, the actress Maria Bello, joins in at the premiere bringing along one of her movies. In a beautiful culmination, Raphael passes out popcorn to the children and the cinema comes to life. Sun City Picture House is a joyful and moving story of a community torn apart by disaster then united through a common love for movies.
